On December 13, OpTic Gaming were named the Esports Organization of the Year at the Esports Awards 2022 in Las Vegas.
??
OpTic have made a good run across the board in the 2022 season. The North American esports organization fields teams in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, Call of Duty, Halo, Overwatch 2, and Rocket League.
?
Starting the year, OpTic made a big move by first acquiring the Valorant roster of Team Envy, which at the time included Pujan “FNS” Mehta, Victor “Victor” Wong, Austin “crashies” Roberts, Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker, Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen, and coach Chet “Chet” Singh. All have since left the team — except Marved, although he has been moved to the inactive roster.
?
OpTic Gaming have the most earnings of any Valorant team this year with $499,000. They were the first team to win an international tournament in the 2022 season of the Valorant Champions Tour, and the fourth to win an international tournament — the Stage 1 Masters Reykjavk — which earned them prize money of $200,000. The outfit’s Halo team also won the Halo World Championship.
?
Among the other teams that were nominated for Esports Organization of the Year were 100 Thieves, Cloud9, T1, G2 Esports, FaZe Clan, LOUD, FURIA Esports, Team Liquid, Nova Esports, and Evil Geniuses.
?
OpTic Gaming made their debut in the world of esports in 2006, when they formed their first ever Call of Duty team. In 2017, they won the Call of Duty Championship.
?
According to the guidelines for the nomination process for Esports Organization of the Year, the outfit must be an international operation with multiple teams in different esports titles that must have been active during the course of the entire year.
